Some projects create lasting connections with their occupants. This is the case for this residence, for which we had previously contributed to its initial design during its construction. Today, we renew the experience by leading a major transformation that blends heritage respect with an openness to nature.
The original enclosed spaces—kitchen, dining room, and living room—were stripped of their walls to create a fluid and luminous living area. This restructuring allows for full enjoyment of the fenestration and an unobstructed view of the surrounding forest. The kitchen and its countertop were moved closer to the garden, allowing for a constant connection with the view throughout the day, while still meeting storage needs.
The fireplace was relocated to the windowless wall on the side of the house and clad in authentic natural stone, adding character to the living space. The blond-orange hue of the cabinetry was carefully selected to harmonize with the existing walnut flooring, creating a warm and elegant continuity.
In the vestibule, existing elements were preserved and enriched with new woodwork, adding architectural depth to the space. The lighting was redesigned with a museum-like approach, highlighting a selection of modern artworks that harmonize beautifully with the surroundings.
This subtle and well-balanced transformation blends minimalism with warmth, tradition with modernity, creating a home that evolves in perfect symbiosis with its environment and its inhabitants.
